Three ways you can retain your best team members.

If you run a real estate business, you know how important top talent is to your success. It’s a lot easier to keep the talented employees you already have than to constantly find new ones, so how can you retain your best and brightest? I feel like my team has done well in this regard, so I’d like to share a few of my best tips for keeping talent:

1. Make it your mission to help people achieve their goals. Zig Ziglar has a philosophy that you can get everything you want out of life if you help people achieve what they want first. Help your employees reach their goals, and they’ll reciprocate with dedicated work.

Recently, I spoke with someone who was having trouble retaining employees. Every issue they discussed was about how they were having problems achieving their goals. If you make everything about yourself, your employees will notice and look for somewhere else to build their careers.

2. Be real with your team members. If you mess up, admit it. When someone is better than you at something, don’t be afraid to ask them for advice. When you’re authentic with your team members and practice humility, you’ll earn their respect.

3. Create opportunities. Put yourself in the shoes of one of your team members. When they wake up and go to work, do they feel like they can achieve what they want? Maybe they want to make a certain amount of money each year. Perhaps they’d like to reach a healthy work-life balance. Whatever each employee wants, try to give it to them.

One reason why our success platform works so well is that our team members could see where they can go within a larger organization. If you’re interested in our success platform or have questions about this topic, please call or email me. I am always willing to help!
